Santa Clara

Shortly after the canonisation of Saint Clare (1255), a group of nuns of the Order of Saint Clare from a monastery in Tarragona came to Majorca to found this monastery that is one of the finest examples of mediaeval art in Palma. This convent maintains papal enclosure. Father Junípero Serra was known in his time as a man with great skill as a preacher, and this convent's church preserves the pulpit from which he delivered the four lessons of the Seraphic school, that is his only known teaching from the pulpit, from the year 1744.
